Ongoing Opportunities for Service

Refuge of Hope, Downtown Canton, Ohio

Founded in 2001, the Refuge of Hope was an outgrowth from a chapel ministry and soup kitchen which began serving the downtown Canton community in the mid-1980s under the name Open Door Chapel. Currently this inner-city, faith-based, non-denominational Christian mission serves as a men’s homeless shelter offering overnight housing (26-28 men), showers, spiritual guidance, accountability, and hot meals (5 full meals weekly to an average of 75 people at each meal).

They are currently renovating a facility that will triple the sleeping capacity and double the number of people served at each meal. Refuge of Hope also operates a mobile soup kitchen, feeding hundreds of individuals in their own neighborhood.

ICU Mobile (Image Clear Ultrasound), Akron, Ohio

ICU Mobile (“I See You”) is the pioneer and leader of pro-life mobile ultrasound ministry. We serve and provide care for abortion determined women and their families, empowering them to choose life while sharing the love of Jesus. We partner with and serve pregnancy centers and other life affirming ministries to help them go mobile – to GO to women in crisis rather than wait for them. We provide the only full turnkey approach that includes all the equipment, pre-deployment consutling, comprehensive training and ongoing consulting and guidance.

Founded in Akron, Ohio in 2003, ICU Mobile was incorporated on November 25, 2007 and became a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization on June 3, 2009 for the purpose of providing free, convenient, comfortable and non-judgmental ultrasound services to pregnant women who may be experiencing an unplanned pregnancy and may be considering an abortion. We seek to reveal life at the crossroads of decision and share the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

From a 3 year old homeowner helping scrub and paint walls, a kindergarten class planting flowers or collecting change to buy materials, high schoolers painting a house, college students passing out information and balloons at the fair or helping facilitate the annual golf outing fundraiser, the retired teacher filing papers and updating the mailing list, to a construction team of handymen building a wheel chair ramp….there’s something for everyone!

Donate Your Time – Volunteer for a day on site, help in the office, and/or work a fundraising event.
Donate Your Resources – Hammer & Nails relies greatly on in-kind donations of both new and used building materials and supplies to off-set operation and project costs.
