MV Membership Vote for Construction and Bank Loan

Good afternoon Church Members,

Since MissionView’s inception in September 2013, we have met at Hoover High School for Sunday morning worship. The North Canton Schools have been very gracious hosts and have provided us an excellent facility to meet in. However, the intent was never to meet at Hoover forever but to eventually have our own “Basecamp” facility from which to minister the gospel and grace of Christ to our community. Since our beginning, the elders have looked for a potential facility and considered numerous options along the way. The 24,000 square foot building shell at 1320 West Maple Street came to our attention in late 2019. We then had feasibility studies prepared by the SoL Harris Day architectural firm that indicated the facility would meet all our needs. In February 2020, the members of MissionView voted unanimously to purchase the building for $300,000, and the subsequent offering was sufficient to allow us to pay cash for the property.

Over the past year, SoL has assisted the building committee in developing the construction plans; we then hired Adkins Building Company as the construction manager for the project. Adkins has recently obtained bids for the project that total $3,168,508 and include allowances for material cost escalation and other contingencies. Based on a full review of our financial statements and projections, the Commercial and Savings Bank (CSB) has agreed to finance $3,200,000 for the project. CSB would not be willing to offer this financing if they did not feel confident in MissionView’s ability to repay the debt. Our 2021 budget projects $800,000 of general offerings and $204,000 of building offerings. Depending on the total amount finally financed, MissionView’s debt service will be about $200,000 annually for up to 20 years (we will, of course, endeavor to pay that off sooner). The church currently spends about $90,000 annually in lease payments for Hoover High School and its current office space. This money will be applied to the bank debt service in the future. Additionally, the people of MissionView have committed over $200,000 per year in Basecamp pledges for 2021 and 2022. We intend to renew this pledge annually until the building is paid off. Finally, statistics show that a church can expect to grow by 45% when moving into a new facility. Our budget projections have conservatively only considered a revenue increase of 17%. We feel confident that this commitment is within our means.

The elders believe God has shown his favor towards this project in numerous ways, from the building purchase to the bank financing and the the favorable bids during a time of construction market volatility. We ask the members of MissionView to confirm their approval to proceed with financing and construction expenditures.

If you would like to vote electronically, please click on the following link to do so. VOTE HERE
If you prefer to vote in person, ballots will be available at the beginning of service this Sunday in front of the auditorium doors. All voting must be completed by Sunday morning at 11:00am.

For His Glory,

The MissionView Elders:

A Letter from PASTOR MATT

Greetings MissionView Family,

I wanted to take a moment and give you an update on project Basecamp. We are full-steam ahead with our renovation planning, and commitments continue to come in as more and more people join in. We are hoping to see construction crews begin working on-site in March! I trust that you have had a chance to see the 3D rendering in the lobby at church or on the website. It is such an exciting time for us!

Thank you for your commitment to give to the Lord through project Basecamp. The giving of our three-year commitments officially started on January 1, 2021, and I know that we will look back at this date, praising God for the work He is sure to do. We truly are all joining together to go where God is leading and it is awesome to see what God is doing!

Please join me in praying:

  1. Praise to the Lord for His faithfulness and goodness.

  2. God’s favor with the banks as we seek financing.

  3. Construction bids would come in under expectation.

  4. Construction would go extremely well.

I am so thankful that we can go to the Lord together in prayer. God hears our prayers and He is faithful and true!

Remember, we are not building a church; we ARE the church! We are building a basecamp to send out missionaries, church planters, and pastors for decades to come, Lord willing. I am grateful and humbled to be your pastor. May God go before us and direct our every step!

Blessings,
Pastor Matt

A Letter from MATT  HAUPT

LEAD  PASTOR

Greetings MissionView,

I wanted to reach out and bring some clarity to our three-year initiative called Basecamp. The three-year commitments we are making are gifts we are giving above and beyond our regular tithe. These additional gifts, given over the next three years, will be designated exclusively for our new church home.

Another important part of Basecamp is the timing of these commitments. Lenders will use these commitment cards to determine how much the church can responsibly borrow to finance our new building. With this in mind, we are asking that you have your commitment cards turned in on or before Easter Sunday April 12th.

If you have not turned in your commitment card yet, I would ask that you prayerfully consider what sacrifices you could make over the next few years in order to invest in the kingdom work God is doing at and through MissionView Church. It is truly going to take all of us working and sacrificing together to do what God has called us to do. Remember, it is not equal gifts but rather an equal sacrifice. I want to encourage you with God’s word in 2 Corinthians 9:6-8:

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.”

Let us join together in prayer and cheerful giving to the Lord! I am looking forward to celebrating what God does through your generosity. Thank you for your faithfulness and obedience in this new and exciting season God has us in.

Blessings,
Pastor Matt

A Letter from MATT  HAUPT

LEAD  PASTOR

I am very excited about the unanimous vote to move forward with the purchase of a new facility. The opportunities this building will open up for us toward our mission of reaching 200,000 with the gospel and the love of God will be amazing. The unity displayed yesterday was inspiring and it is a powerful example of MissionView’s commitment to be a missional church. I am thankful for God’s grace that is active in us and fuels this kind of passion to see His Kingdom grow!

The approval of the building now requires our financial support. The total cost of the finished project is estimated to be $3.6 million.  The purchase of the property will cost $300,000. Another $600,000 will be required to obtain $2.7 million in financing and start the renovation project. This sounds like a large number, but I know that where God leads, He will provide.

This move is going to take all of us joining together in sacrificial giving apart from our normal giving. I am sure that as you have been praying about this location, looking over the renderings, and maybe even driving by the facility to check it out, that you have been asking the Lord to guide you in how you can financially support this move. I wanted to let you know about two ways that you can give towards project Basecamp.

The first way is coming up this Sunday. We are going to be taking up a special offering to raise money to acquire the building and start the renovation process. I want to ask each of you to pray about what God would have you give. I trust He will guide you and bless you with great joy as you give, and remember that it is not about equal gifts but rather an equal sacrifice.

The second way you can give is by making a three-year commitment. We are looking at different and strategic ways to finance this renovation and we have talked with a couple of lenders who would allow our three-year commitments to be used as equity in the lending process. We are going to be sharing the specifics of project Basecamp, our three-year campaign, over the next 3 weeks. This will give you more time to pray about the different ways you can support this move above and beyond your regular giving. For me, I know Starbucks is going to be seeing a lot less of my money over the next three years and Netflix might have to go too:)!

As your pastor, I want to thank you for your generosity and passion to see the gospel go out and impact our neighbors, our city, our country, and the world, as we pursue a gracious Savior and live on mission for Him!

Blessings,

Pastor Matt
